268 people from 11 world countries was participated in the Forum. Composition of Forum: representatives of ministries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and international organizations such as UNDP, UNEP, UNIDO, ISWA, CIS Executive Committee, waste management enterprises, industrial enterprises, non-governmental organizations and others.
Welcomed the participants and opened the Forum: Vice-Minister of energy of Republic of Kazakhstan Sadibekov G.K., Member of the Committee on Ecology and Environmental management of Mazhilis of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Karaken and head of sub-regional office of UN Environment Programme for Central Asia Alekseeva N.P.
Plenary meeting and five sessions on relevant topics in waste management field were held within the framework of the Forum. On the first day of Forum following issues were discussed: global trends in waste management field, issues of cooperation with international banks in attracting investments, stimulation of waste management industry, using of best international practices in the process of implementation of EPR principles in EAEU countries.
On the second day of Forum following questions were covered: development of cooperation in the field of solid domestic waste management in CIS and EAEU countries, collection and recycling of certain waste types, using of modern IT technologies and modeling of waste management system, specific and problematic types of industrial waste and the best technologies for their recycling, also recycling of POPs-containing waste and equipment.
In the frame of Forum participants visited the first ecological village - Arnasay, KazRecycleService waste recycling plant and medical waste destruction unit. Visit of international specialized exhibition "Astana EXPO-2017" was also organized.
